Contact status explained

You are here:

A contact can be assigned one of the following four statuses:

Active

An active contact is someone who has confirmed his / her registration (with a double opt-in), has not deregistered and has not been bounced.

An active contact can be added manually, via a form and via a link / API.

Active contacts count towards the contact limit of your subscription. As soon as an active contact unsubscribes or bounced, the person is no longer active.

Unconfirmed

A contact is given the status ‘unconfirmed’ if they register for a form with a double opt-in and then do not confirm it.

Unconfirmed contacts do not receive emails and cannot go through an automation. They are only registered as active when they complete the confirmation. It is not allowed to manually activate these contacts.

Unconfirmed contacts do not count towards the contact limit of your subscription.

Unsubscribed

A contact is given the status ‘unsubscribed’ when they have unsubscribed for your mails via the unsubscribe link or when they or you are unsubscribed from a list.

Contacts unsubscribed from all lists do not count towards the contact limit of your subscription.

Bounced

Contacts get the status ‘bounced’ when the e-mails sent by you are rejected by their e-mail server. This has to do with the fact that the mail address does not exist or cannot be reached.
